The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
