The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
