The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
