The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
