The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
