The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And accepts the best, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
