The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
