The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
