The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
