The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
