The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
