The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
