The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
