The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
