The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
