The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
