In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
