The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
