The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
