The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
