The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
