The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
