The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news - 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
