The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
