The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
