The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
