The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
