The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
