Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets set, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
