The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
