The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
