The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
