The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
