The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 And the second followeth it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
