The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And assembled and proclaimed, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
