He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
