He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
