He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and herbage 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
