He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
