He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
