He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
