The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
