He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
