He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
