He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
