And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
