He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
