The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
