He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
