He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
