He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
